Default Fried Rice + Lightbox

Recently, I wanted to know what was not so great about a picture of some food I took. This is the picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thekevinmonster/499324158/

So, I built a makeshift lightbox out of a box and some printer paper. Now, I didn't really make a seamless background, but here's the new shot....

Lightbox + Fried Rice, Diffuse overhead

Comments? The light in this pic comes a halogen desk lamp I stuck on the left outside of the box, and I put a white paper over the top hole to cut out the glare from the overhead room light.

The box is fairly small, about 1.5ft cubed. I couldn't find any other cube-like boxes on short notice.

Definite improvement I will leave the technical stuff about lightboxes to the guys who use them more frequently. You can always edit out those pesky lines in the background, but it's probably worthwhile to nip down to the artshop and get some larger sheets for next time.

I do fun things like that too...(this was my first go)
What was your number?

Thinking of getting a little set of reflectors soon enough - anyone have any recommendations for a smallish cheap set of reflectors?

Oh yeah, it was mostly an experiment. It cost 0 dollars; I just used stuff I had lying around. I need a bigger box first. And then a chihuahua. (*groan*) I'm not sure what to use for a seamless backdrop. I assume I could get a piece of posterboard and bend it or something, but then you'd see the bend?

It's definitely nice having a consistent background. I love taking pictures of food and such, and getting the lighting right is a huge pain, plus no one wants to see dirty pots and pans in the background. (Whose kitchen is clean right after they cook? Not mine!)

You could bend a piece of poster board without creasing it to form an Infinity Curve (seamless background) - see attachment 1&2. It works pretty much the same as an actual Infinity Curve - see attachment 3. Use another piece of white board as a fill-in reflector. It's all smoke and mirrors

That's my Infinity Curve at work and for some reason it draws people to eat their lunch on it or try to drape themselves across it! Hence the sign
