Default Cape Point Lighthouse

I had to aim high to take this photo of the Cape Point Lighthouse, since it's a tourist attraction and dozens of people were at the lookout point. I'm not convinced by this shot, but would like to know your comments. I include the orginal (2nd image). I made some adjustments to the exposure, sharpening, crop etc. (1st image)

I like the original better since it is not so blown out however I should crop out the persons head at the bottom of the picture.

Gave it another try. Rotated so that narrowing of lighthouse towards top is more apparant. Made some Selective Colour adjustments to white of lighthouse. Comments?

PS: I was trying to capture the light rays - I know some photographers say its a no-no and lens hoods should be used at all times - any views on that?

The fingers of god. I like capturing the lightrays and I think that lens flare is a good thing in certain situations it does add a certain look to photos but like everything in photography it is really knowing when to use a certain technique and personal preference

'Fingers of God' is rather a nice way of seeing it
