You are right - the subject is great. The shot is also wonderful, with only a few areas that could be improved on. You seemed to get nice and low for a great perspective - most people tend to just shoot standing up.

The overall exposure is a tiny bit low for me - having it lightened a touch would really make the fawn stand out. The grass in the lower left corner is a tad bit distracting - maybe blur our the background a bit more to keep the eye from wandering there too much?

Great job overall.

Even Portrait orientation looks good, features subject more. Thought for the day: include space for hooves.
