Default Flowers

I took a couple of pictures of flowers in my garden.

Looks almost artificial
four white flowers

Blue flowers

I think I came to close - my lens makes a shadow
Small flowers

I really love the first picture. I like it the best, the white flowers are really sharp and stand out nicely from the background. The other two shots don't seem as sharp and don't stand out as well. I like the shapes of the flowers in the second shot, maybe if you got closer to the flowers in this shot they would be more of a stronger focal point.

I really like the blue flower I like how its standing out by it's self not to close to other flowers. The white flowers look really odd to me for some reason almost like you said artificial or plastic in some way.

Thanks for the comments.

I personally like the composition of the picture with the blue flower - I was using f/5.6 because I would still be able to see the flowes in the background. But next time I have to work with the sharpness...

Bo_, Welcome

It's some quality of sunlight that may help put more 'life' in the flowers. Both time of day and brilliance of Sun (versus cloudy/hazy day) may change this look. Realistic shadows will be more present. Good choice to feature one subject out of the 'crowd.'

Thanks for the hint...

- a bit of sun would probably have done the trick - It was a day with "changing clouds coverage" - and I took the 2nd picture when the sun was covered behind the clouds...
