Red Door

Interesting Church in Georgetown. I turned it to black and white but left the door red cause the rest of the colors didnt do much for me.

Time of day may change the look of this, if the door were better lit. As it stands, the red looks applied. Is this the original red door, or did you convert the b/w one?

The door was red I just created a duplicate layer and then convereted the duplicate to black and white and masked out the door and left it with color.

I like this, actually, and I can see why you chose to apply selective colorization here. Dark, gray, rainy days often wash the colors right out of the world, seems like.

Because it's gray and rainy, though, the overal scene seems a bit flat -- and the sign near the door competes directly with it. I don't know what could be done about that sign, but I wonder whether increasing the contrast a bit, or adjusting the white/black points in the greyscale might give the scene itself a little more depth?

It's a very pretty setting and church, and I bet those stained-glass windows are lovely in the right light.

Here is the original picture. I dunno what I could have done about the sign other than running up there and taking it away. Anyways I dont think I will go back there to reshoot because there is so many more things around here that I want to go to I dont think I will have time to go back however if I find that I have the time to do it I will.

i dont know why, but the black and white version kinda makes me feel its cartoony. I actually prefer the original.

I like both, for different reasons. However, I have to say I prefer the color version because of the great warm light and colors. Too bad you couldn't stand on a chair or something to shoot above that fence and therefore, avoid the sign. As is, cropping the fence/sign out would cause you to lose some of the church.

No matter what color of red I used on the door, it didn't look right in the b/w version. But with a little added light to lower right and removing signs, it looks OK in color:
