Default Blackwater Falls

The photo was taken on a cloudy day. I used my polarizer filter and set the shutter speed at .4 with f11. This seemed to smooth the water out real goodIMG_1995.jpg

Hi,
The linked photo wasn't much arger than the thumbnail so it is hard to give you much help but I'll make a few observations. The cropping seems a little tight in that not all of the falls are visible. You said your exposure was .4 so I am assuming that means it was close to a half-second. That is probably a good speed to work from as you use an even slower shutter speed depending on the volume and speed of the water.
You mentioned using a polarizing filter. It probably acted more as a neutral density filter allowing the slower shutter speed than providing any polarization effect. Polarizers don't typically work to their best on cloudy or overcast days.
Perhaps you intended to include the shrubbery in the forground or you couldn't aviod it by its location. To my eye it acts as a barrier by slowing me from getting into the photo. Again, being a small image it was hard to tell if it contributed to the overall image. Thanks for shaing your shot of the falls with us.

Hi,
I believe if you follow these guidelines, you will upload an image that is large enough to be viewed and critiqued but not exceed the bandwidth requirements. That image is then linked to your image on flickr where one can go to see the full sized image as well as view EXIF data on the shot.
Here is the link: http://digital-photography-school.co...=img#faq_flckr

Hi,
It is a little easier to see the detail in this one. A little under exposed and lacking contrast due to the overcast day. Cropping is still a little tight on the top of this one as well. I think your shutterspeed and f/stop combo is working well to give a nice flow to the water. Let me know how you do with linking your flickr photos using those guidelines linked in a previous message.

the shrubbery is slightly annoying its a shame you couldnt get a clear shot without it, i dont know much about polarising filters so cant comment. But the water looks great I love the way it looks

The place was down in the gorge it was quite a hike. There were 214 steps to get to the observation platform.
