Default Flower Macro

Flower macro

It’s pretty difficult to get some nice looking flowers here where I live but I managed to get this one. I try to make a macro shoot (Will it be? Lol). There is a little post-production in Photoshop. I added some contrast and sharpen the image a little bit. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks for the help!

oriolhdz,

That is a lovely flower. The purple really stands out and you've achieved some good focus. I like the light...bright but not washed out. I also like the crop...tight but not too tight. I think your depth of field is good, although shallower might have been even better, further blurring the background. While your background isn't particularly distracting, there are some elements that detract the eye a little. Overall, I like the shot! Thanks for sharing!

oriolhdz, Welcome

Just another thought: flowers' pistil and stamen are usually interesting. I could see you shining a beam of sunlight with a mirror from behind and below this bloom, for a unique additional glow showing center.

Default Thanks for the idea!

Hi jiminyClickit:
I really appreciate that comment. I never thought on using a mirror for getting the extra light to shine the pistil. I tried to use the flash on but the color was too bright with it.
Tips like that make our newbie photos get better and interesting!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Hi,
I think you did a great job in capturing the flower. The color and sharpness are excellent! I have already learned some new techniques by reading earlier critiques on your shot. I was trying to shoot a lilly in the garden this morning and the tip about using a mirror would have been interesting to try. Depth of field really carried at your f/2.8 aperture. I am not familiar with the H2 camera but find that I must shoot many images to ensure I get some of reasonable sharpness while using autofocus. Sorry I can't add anything more helpful than what has already been said. Keep up the nice work!
