Default Product Test Shot

Here's my first attempt at product photography.

Shot using Canon 30D with a Canon 100mm Macro @ f5.6.
Post processing done in Photoshop CS3

Hi,
It is obvious that you have good command of working the graphics side of the illustration. However, the overall impact is that the graphics are stronger than the product. By reading the product it appears that this is a component of a "Voice over Internet Phone" system. You have tended to shoot it straight on and it got a little "grayed" out with post processing. The antenna almost seems like it is part of the Xnet VFX graphics set. Where would you envision this to be used--in a magazine layout, a product catalog or similar advertising piece? I guess if one knew more about the VoIP world the image would be more readable but as such I'm not sure what you are selling. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Sincerely,

Thank you for your comments.

I probably should have explained myself in more detail. the image will be on the hardware packaging advertising the actual VFX service. I was actually taking the shot of the gear as the company didn't provide me with the graphic I was happy with to be using.

The antenna does seem to be a little out of place but seemed to be less intrusive than having it up. Having it down didn't seem right in the shots I have taken.

Thank you.
