Nice job! I know little about product photography, but from what I can tell here, you are spot on. The lighting seems perfect and the subtle reflection of the shoe is effective. I can see the logo, so that's good!

Are you practicing for the potential of shooting products in the future or do you have an actual project lined up?

Not too sure how to make it better because it's great already...perhaps you could experiment by changing the direction that the shoe is facing or something?

Thanks for sharing!

All I was using for light was my 580ex flash and the lights from the room.

Thanks Teewinot. I was thinking about doing some stock photography and try and make some extra cash in the future with it but thought I would try it first before I even thought about starting.

I definately need to work on the lighting part so I can produce a consistent lighting

Hi,
I think you are on the right track and off to a good start. Here are a couple of observations. It appears that you shot these products on a reflective surface. I'm not sure the reflections below the items add to the impact of the photo. Perhaps trying the same shots on some "matte" paper may be better. The shoe and the item below it (sorry but I don't know what it is) present two different challenges in lighting. The shoe is well lit but I agree with the first poster that turning it a bit may help. You could also feature the other shoe of the pair, perhaps showing the 'tread' design on the bottom. Excellent exposure, tonal quality and sharpness on the shoe!
The second item appears to have a metallic, highly reflective finish. Items like thse are best shot in a "tent". Envision a small tent (or box) made up of translucent material. Light the outside of the tent so that a diffused light falls on the subject. Put the lens through an opening in the tent to shoot the picture. The item is sharp and well exposed. It still remains a mystery as to what it is. Thanks for sharing your work with us. Keep shooting!
Sincerely,
Lee -clockdoc-
