Default trying something new

I want to blow one of them up and frame it. I'd like it to be a fair size. Maybe 24"x24". Something like that.

Honestly? Do you think either of them is good enough? Which one will look better - the dreamy or the regular?

Hi shutterbug,

I'm excited for you putting up your shots on your wall! I always enjoy that. I assume the originals are a high enough res to blow up to 24X24.

As a personal preference, I like the dreamy one better. I think the color is more saturated and the shadows are more effective. The soft focus really creates a neat atmosphere. The only thing that distracts me about both shots is the black background. It's nicely blurred, but pretty dark and not really complementary to the yellow flower. Was the background originally green, or brown? Could you shoot it under different conditions to achieve these colors? Or might you be able to modify settings in Photoshop to change the color/light?

I think that regardless of change, you'll have a nice shot for your wall! Thanks for sharing!

Edit: The more and more I think about it, the more I wonder whether black is an equally interesting background, perhaps if solid. There have been several posts lately with flowers on pure black backgrounds and that can be very effective. Perhaps you could try painting in the non-black spots black and see if that looks good. The main thing to keep in mind is that this shot will be going on your wall, not mine. Do what you like best. The bottom line is that the flower is a lovely subject and you captured it well.

I like both of them equally. If it was me, I'd make them both 12 x 12 and frame them both side by side in the same frame.
