Default lomo attempt

Drafting in Lomo

Well I hit the randomizer on the DPS Blog and the lomo entry came up (http://digital-photography-school.co...o-photography/). I decided it would be cool to try. Here is my attempt following the tutorial. I'm not sure exactly how a lomo shot should look so please let me know if it is off!

for some reason it doesn't look like it has the lomo effect to it?
I think it seems the wall behind the woman is shadowed and the left side of the photo is a bit dark.
I have tried to find some pics of mine to try this effect on but everyone i try seems to look a bit weird.
Maybe someone who is more familiar with this technique will chime in.

I'd have to agree with xxpinballxx, though I suspect the problem is with the effect's contrast; you might be able to fix it with Photoshop.

The other thing that might be working counter to your goals is that there appear to be two different subjects in the photo: the flowers and the girl. It might help to have more visual attention drawn more to one or the other.

yeah it does look almost like two photos sewn together. Maybe crop the gril and see how it looks with the same affect done.

I think the two things that throw this off are:

1. The very visible "contrast halo" running down the centre

2. The vignette effect (darkening towards the edges) seems to be missing at some points.

I also agree that it would probably work better with one subject rather than two - or perhaps you could throw one of them out of focus (I'm not sure on the focal characteristics of lomo cameras).
