Default BBQ Place

Hi...
This is my first post in the Digital Photography School. A little scary but I thought I'd try asking for your critique on one of my favorite pics.

This was taken last year at the Louis Mueller BBQ in Texas. This was taken with Nikon D80.
Exposure 1/6 sec; f/6.3, focal length 18mm, ISO 200.

Fire away!

Louie Mueller BBQ, Taylor, Texas

Des, Welcome

If you're going for your first Critique, you might as well start with a winner.
This one sets a mood, leads the eye around without being too complex. The deep shadow still shows the Lone Star enough to identify it. Only question I have is where to see more like this.

Hi, Des, welcome to dps!

Interesting subject. I like that faded wall and the diagonal lines in the floor, ceiling and wall. The light ray coming in fromthe window gives a diagonal line, too, but the window light seems a little blown out which draws attention to itself.

JiminyClickit,

Thank you.

The Louis Mueller BBQ place in Taylor, Texas has the prefect setting for pictures like this. Their website has some amazing photos of the place.

I love taking pictures with deep shadows. Unfortunately, I don't have a VR lens yet and most of the time I don't remember to carry a tripod with me.
Hopefully, once I get my 18-200 mm Nikkor VR lens, I can take more pictures like this...
