A bee's view of a flower

I wanted to convey what I think a bee sees when it looks a at a flower. All distractions around the flower an non existant to a bee. I wanted the flower to pop out at you. I did a lot of post processing to this picture as you can see in the large view it looks like a painting.

In the orginal shot it was not as sharp and detailed as I had hoped for this is what gave me the idea for the image. Removeing any remaining details and work with the shape of the flower and the color. The flower was actually purple and the blue was actually green of course. Some creative inverting and selective coloring gave the the colors I have now. Lots of shadow and highlight use as well.

I love the yellow on blue. The blown-up version also shows the painterly quality you speak of....very nice!

Out of curiosity, did you research the actual colors bees would see, or did you pick colors based on a more artistic perspective? Either way, great idea!!!

I did some reserach and found out that Bee's can't see the color red so I made sure red was not in the image or at a minimal. I then just selected some colors I thought would contrast well together while still looking somewhat natural color wise.
