I love the yellow on blue. The blown-up version also shows the painterly quality you speak of....very nice!
Out of curiosity, did you research the actual colors bees would see, or did you pick colors based on a more artistic perspective? Either way, great idea!!! I really like it...thanks for sharing!

I did some reserach and found out that Bee's can't see the color red so I made sure red was not in the image or at a minimal. I then just selected some colors I thought would contrast well together while still looking somewhat natural color wise.
