I agree by moving around abit you would have tightened the shot and may have reduced the contrast on the male. had alook at all the photos some great ones amonst them.

I really like the shot you posted. Lots of great ones in the whole photo shoot. I love the one of them looking at the water with her head on his shoulder, and the very last one where he is holding her shoes - very cool!! Have you thought of doing any of them in B&W? I bet they are thrilled.

yeah nice shot.
Before I read your comment/suggestion I actually wondered the same thing - if you'd just stepped slightly to the right for the shot it might have opened it up a little and put a little more distance/wall between them which would have stopped him being a little behind her - however I really like it anyway. |

Thanks everyone for your ideas. Even though I'm not going to get the shot to the right now, I'm glad that I picked up that it would have made a better more interesting shot based on the majority opinion.
Digidave, I actually wanted him blurry. I'm going to finish this out with another shot of exactly the opposite, him in focus and her blurry it looks cool. But after looking at what you were saying I think that I should have paid more attention to his pose. I think I could have addressed what you were saying by having him put his right hand above his head on the wall. Maybe I'll get another chance to do shots for someone else. Anyway thanks again for your comments. I really appreciate them.

Yeah, I found myself agreeing with Dave. I mean, of course I'm glad that you accomplished what you were trying to, and it makes for a good portrait overall, it's just that it looks a bit stand-off-ish for an engagement picture. It makes me think that she's put him behind her (as in he's in the past). But that's just me (and we all know it's the bride's opinion that matters... not anyone else
). It does look like you took some really nice pictures though, you captured the loving emotion really well in some of the other shots (which isn't meant as rude as it seems to come out in text, it's supposed to be praise)

After checking out the other pics, I think you missed an opportunity on another one. Two clicks to the right of the picture you have on this thread. The one where she is blurry & he is not. Try cropping slightly less & have her looking straight forward & maybe upward a tad bit, not at the camera. That way she would look like she is waiting for her Prince Charming & he is looking at her & thinking, "I'm here & I'm going to be yours for the rest of our lives". Just my opinion & maybe for you to keep in mind, for the next time. Nice job by the way!

The greatest thing about this forum is that even if you don't agree with everyone's ideas every once and a while you get a really great idea that you probably wouldn't have come up with on your own. Great idea I'll definately put that in my notebook for later. Thank you all!
