This is my first post, so be gentle!!
http://picasaweb.google.com/kelleycs...48273161274418 This shot was taken at a Flaming Lips show in April. I'm not really sure what I was trying to achieve... I was really just shooting to see what I could come up with. I really like this shot, and was curious as to how others felt about it... I'm relatively new to the photography world... I recently obtained a Canon Rebel XT after having a Canon film camera for a very short time. I'm learning... ![]() How would you improve this shot? What would you do differently with the conversion to b&w? |

I feel that the camera focused on the back of the ladies head. I'm not sure if I'm at a concert or if I'm waiting in line for something. Guessing is a good thing though.
I myself would of gone with a manual AF point selection (center), focused on the back of the mans head in front at f8 or higher. Taking photos at a concert in the crowd isn't quite the easiest thing to do either. |

I do like the picture, it has something special...i think the out of focus aspect extaully makes the photo more exciting. Concert photography is hard, especially when you don't want to take your big camera with lensen but a small canon ixus. I recently shot some of shakira:

My first impression of the picture is that it doesn't say much. There's no faces in the picture - just people's backs. You might have been too far away from the stage to get anything decent of the band, but you can always take advantage by taking pictures of you and your mates.
Black and white is fine - perhaps a bit flat. If you are interested in getting more dramatic results look at this technique I use : http://www.640pixels.com/articles/bl...photoshop.aspx The important thing is that you are taking pictures and have a desire to improve. A good way to improve your photography is by looking at Pictures from photographers and in books, and then trying to emulate them. Pretty soon you will develop on eye for pictures. Good luck, and remember to keep at it. |

I have to say that I like the enigmatic quality of people's backs rather than their faces in this shot. I think the change should be in the title rather than in the image!
