I think I like the first one better. I prefer it because it doesn't have the building on the right which is kind of distracting. That said, it feels a bit squished in the first one because the building is so close to the right edge, but it's a better crop. So yeah, the first one

What is the purpose of choosing between them? Both are okay but neither really grabs me. I think Jiminy's lateral suggestion of cropping the top and bottom would be worth following up (or how about cropping the top off the spire and leaving the bottom alone?), or, if the scene is somewhere near you grabbing some more pictures after a fresh consideration of what is your subject and where it falls in the frame.

ok i prefer the 1st one purely cos I find the building on the right in the second spoils the shot for me.

Thanks for the replies, after looking at them a little larger on my screen and printing some test pics, a re-crop is definitly in order. I think I will leave the crop similar to the first one, but get rid of some of the bottom and top.
After a few years in the darkroom it's amazing what digital can do. Thanks again |
