Default Taking Flight

Hello! I took these two hummingbird shots recently and I was just wondering what anyone thought about them. Thanks!

Wow! The second one is stunning! I can't believe you got the wing to look like it was barely moving. Just beautiful.

I like the first one in an abstract sort of way. There isn't quite enough definition to make it a super great catch, but on the other hand my eyes wanted to look for the second wing and I did find it. Also the beak is barely visible, but that does make the image interesting.

I can't wait to get a try at some humming birds. Time to boil some sugar water for them!

The first one is not really cutting it, the background is so plain that it is distracting, it becomes a focal point in the image, especially since the main subject, the bird is so difficult to see because of the motion blur.

The second image however, is much better accomplished, this time, even though the background has much more information, that information actually helps to view the bird! I really like that one!

myrnaflynn, Welcome

If you could add a painted/printed/colored background behind the feeder, that issue will be resolved, and with interchangeable panels, you could get variety. Also explore your camera's speed/exposure relatioships, so you can stop those wings if you want, when you want. These are good shots.
