The large view shows the "hot spot" much better, where the small one seems too contrasted. So more a matter of taste, I think this really shows the intensity of electrical discharge. Any post work?

I like this lightning shoot, it's both powerful and 'neatly' detailed. Good composition, IMO and I love the color.

Good composition being at the right place at the right time. How much post processing did you have to do for this image? Can we see the original?

I wonder how one can take picture of lightnings... that must be very hard

I am not a fan of lightning...but that is one awesome capture! I agree with Jiminy and Digidave....the large view is a must see!!

There wasn't much post work done. I did a bit of cloning to get rid of some lights in the trees (there's a road back there, just a small one, but there's some streetlights), and I think maybe some subtle work with levels. And the border, of course.

Mikeboy, it's not really hard to take pictures of lightning. I used about a 10 second exposure for this. The long exposure meant that I had a good chance to get a strike or two in.
