Default Taj Mahal Complex

Hi All,

I quite like these two pics but i cant decide which is better. the colour version or the BW version? what do you guys think of the pics? I like how the colours have come out in the colour pic but i also like the way the ray of sunlight is emphasised in the BW pic. The pic was taken at about 6 - 6.30 in the morning.

The pictures were taken with a Sony Cybershot P71.

Thanks for C&C!

IMO the colour shot, it still catches the ray of light and the colour gives it that little bit extra that the b&w shot doesn't.

Yeah, I like the colour version. I think the sun is actually more noticeable there for some reason I think that because there's not much contrast in the foreground, the colour version works better. If there were a bit more contrast (e.g. a bright wall, or more sky, or something like that), then it would work in B&W, but since the bottom of the frame is mostly dark, I feel kind of overwhelmed by that in the B&W version.

My rule of thumb for black and white is that if the shot has very muted colors as it is, then I prefer black and white.

I don't really see any extraordinary colors on the shot, so I prefer black and white.

To address the sunrays fading in the black and white, i would suggest some strategic dodging and burning

It's amazing how effective it is

I like the color version because of the trees on the left. They seem to give the photo warmth. The composition is not too bad either. The trees and the side building lead to the domed building. The only thing I see that might improve the picture would be a bluer sky. Good photo wijew.
