nickj224, Welcome

Looks like original/unsaturate layer/erase/vignette. Is there a goal in mind? Other than experimenting?

I like the look. And I see what you are going for.

I would just make the separation between the light and the dark a bot more graduated and faze it in. There is a strong separation between them.

Other than that great portraits.

Wow...these shots are great. I love the emotion conveyed in the subjects' faces. My favorite is the first shot...nice job on the placement of the subject within the frame. She's got somewhere to look and this enhances the meaning of the shot.

Nice photoshop work too. It amplifies the emotion. I'm with the rest....care to share how you did it?

I second Sagelike's comments

it's a great shot and great emotion conveyed, but the gradient could be more subtle, especially on the first shot.

please do share though, I think the pp gives of a great feel!

Both shots are great. The second is truly exceptional to me . I like how the background forms 2 different framings for the mother with the child on one side and the girl on the other, and they still come together. Very powerful, every person tells his/her story... In the first photo the contrast is boosted slightly too much IMO, I think I'd like it to be a bit softer - the person pops up from the background too much. Other than that, its really great.
