The photo below was taken at Fingal Bay, NSW Australia in April 2007. It was around 5:30am and the sun was just about to creep over the horizon. Taken with a Canon EOS 400D with 18-55mm, f3.5, 2.5sec exposure (using a tripod ofcourse!) and 100 ISO.

I think there is too much black at the bottom there I would crop out the bottom third of the picture and also the tree in the top right corner other than that it looks pretty good.

Wow! the colours in this shot are amazing. Good work. It seems getting up early did pay off.
i agree with RexK_Cozumel, if more of the bottom was cropped of, so that the horizon fell along one of the "rule of thirds" (link anyone?) lines , this way the horizon would not be in the middle, which tends to detract from pictures.
