Default "Cut it out"

Thats what he said as I snapped this one.
I have very little confidence when it comes to taking portraits so I am working on this aspect of photography.
I like his expression. Adjusted the light levels just a smidge and a tiny crop. Any comments/critique much appreciated! Thanks!!!!

Oh, I could practically hear him telling you to stop taking his picture lol You didn't even have to say it, you captured the emotion just that well.

I feel your pain about taking portraits, it's my one area that I'd like to try to break out of being afraid of. I've done a little by doing some graduation shots for a fellow student, and I'm contemplating taking a portrait photography course in a few months.

Now, back to you . I think that all is good with this, except for the fact that the sky in the background is really blown out, which is kind of distracting because of the bright white. I like the fact that the head fills a good portion of the frame, and because it fills so much of the picture it doesn't matter that the side/top is cut off. I'd suggest a faster shutter speed and fill flash in these conditions, but the flash plays havoc on glasses, so that doesn't work. So, yeah, good job, you definitely captured the moment

YoAshnish,

Comment on his dimples next time! Either you'll get a whole other expression, or the opportunity to buy a new camera. Yeah, portraits are diplomacy plus timing, and this one is realistic, honest, well done.

(Is that your 3-bubble photo as avatar?)

Thank you Nicole for your comment, critique and shared weakness and desire to improve in portrait photography...always nice to know I am not alone I did purposefully attempt to, dare I say, "cut off" the upper portion of his head...as, well, he seems to have misplaced some of that hair...and well, the sun kinda bounces off it...I didn't however intend to miss his ear
Jiminy, by golly gee...if commenting on his dimples will get me another camera, I'll be doing that when he gets home! lol I've been telling him how I feel I am ready for my D80 now..seem to get a lot of blow out with my current p&s camera...it sure can't be me! So thank you very much for your comments and my way to my D80!

almost forgot...Jiminy...that is not my 3 bubble photo as my avatar...though, yet another good idea! It is my sprite, Ashnish, who sits on the dash of my car grinning at me constantly

YoAshnish,

As soon as I read 'dash,' the image shifted! Like a troll doll, only cuter?

My eyesight, not your photography!
