Default Morning Dew

my first post here.....would love some critiquing. I took this one morning in my backyard.

The one critique that I have is that there's a lot of extra space in this shot. What if you were to crop the shot so that the flower takes up more of the picture? It's a really nice looking flower, good colours, nice with the water droplets on it. It would probably just "pop" more if it filled more of the frame.

cropped too much?


maybe this is more like it...with a bit of the foliage of the flower.

I like the second one Keeping more of the foliage really sets off the orange of the flower, and the crop has really helped to put the focus where you wanted it.

thank you nicole for your advice. I am a tinkerer of photography. I don't know a whole heck of alot but am going to give it a try to learn as much as I can.
