Default B&W

My daughter shot this self portrait with my camera. I think it's beautiful. She can't stand it. I found it among a hundred or so she shot of herself one day.
Please critique it so I'm not just blind in my own taste.

BlueEyedNanuk,

I would crop away light and arm, just so attention began and ended on subject. But your bias is as natural as your daughter's reaction. What doesn't she like in particular?

Hi,
I think it's a very good shot. I'd crop in closer to the neck and face. It's got attitude...good look in black and white.
What doesn't your daughter like about the photograph?

Again to reiterate what's been said, crop. And tell her not to worry, it's a beautiful shot of a beautiful subject.

Thanks. I let her read all of your comments and she is beginning to express ratification from her previous resentments towards it.

BlueEyedNanuk,

Looking at this a day later, if she were looking down a little in a thoughtful way, it may have pleased her more.
