shot a local band called Nice Peter (nicepeter.com). They just wanted some simple live shots and i came up with a couple i thought were decent. didn't actually get cash, but free cover, drinks, 'backstage access', and all their CDs/DVDs/t-shirts was good enough for me. cool people and i'm glad i got to hang out with them. they loved what i came up with and want me to do some more shots for them to use as flyers/cd covers and whatnot. so that's pretty cool i think.
here are some of the 300 or so i think came out okay. all shot with my canon 350 and nifty fifty. most were probably at f1.8 and iso 800. shutter speeds varied obviously, but i kept it in the range of 1/60th to 1/160th most of the time. the lights were mostly red which totally sucked. so my favorites are all a B&W variant. thoughts? C&C? ![]() ![]() ![]() oddly enough, my personal favorite didn't even include faces of the band ![]() cheers, matt

I agree with Saralonde, they turned out pretty good. It's to bad the first one has that water bottle in it. I really like #2 the B&W one. The beer bottle doesn't stand out so much. #3 is my least favorite. The 4th one, well what can you say, it's the champagne of beers! My personal favorite.

J/W You said you used a 1.8. According to your Sig, I assume it's the 50mm that your using.
What settings/mode did you use? Because I'm trying to shoot indoors and all I have is the 17-40 F4L and the 50mm 1.6. Push comes to shove I am getting a 24-70 F2.8L Great photos. I likes. I have to agree about the water bottle. It takes my attention away. But hey, It's not your set

yeah, you know, what can you do. they were drinking water, beer, and jameson. i couldn't stop him and have him put a beer in just for the shot
![]() yes, i was using my 50 f1.8 canon lens (nifty fifty as mentioned in the post). i have the 17-40 and while it's on my camera 90% of the time, i never use it in situations like this because f4 just isn't fast enough for me. if i had noise ninja or some other noise reduction software so i could shoot at iso 1600 that might be another story, but at the moment i don't, so i don't as far as shooting goes, i shoot in manual mode RAW so i could get the proper exposure. shooting in Av or Tv in settings with such poor light the camera always seems to mess up the exposure. my tax return should be here any day and while i was planning on canon's 70-200 f4L, i might pay a few hundred more, branch away from canon only lenses, and try sigma's 70-200 f2.8 IS. thanks for the compliments all.
i didn't feel the water bottle was a problem when i was processing the photos, but if the band found it distracting, i could always edit it out like you did pinball.

I don't think it was that distracting but the 4th shot is really cool. It has a feel to it. Not like the other ones don't but you know whats going on in the other ones. The 4th is more of a "what you make of it" type of shot. Very cool!
