Anderson Park - Neutral Bay

I'd like to know what you guys think about this shot. Thanks in advance for your comments!

I added the borders etc in photoshop but I didn't touch the image.

Cheers!

wije,

I don't know what else was available to you, so if I say building is annoying, it was there. Same with light standard, distracting as presented, it is a part of that scene and if you want it accurate, then it belongs there.

Just wonder if backing up or moving forward a few yards would have given you better results with composition? Photographically it's good in shadows, but light to the point of losing some highlights.

So did you take a bunch and this is your favorite?

I like the shot, only thing is that the tree on the right hand side (forefront of the picture) seems strange, like strange jagged edge to it, which I found distracting. But you could change that in editing, its like a weird light. Dont know if you can see what I mean.

The line of trees draws you down the path which is good.

Thanks for the replies!

jiminyClickit,
I wanted to backup a little bit more to try and remove the building from the picture but there is a bin on the left hand side. I really didn't want that in the picture! I also took the picture at around 10.30 in the morning when it was too sunny. Maybe if i go there earlier in the morning or late in the evening it wouldn't be as bright. Maybe a portrait layout would have worked better?

knickers71uk,
The bark of the tree is comming off, it is simillar to a paper bark tree.

Thanks for the comment! will try and look for a "portrait format of the pic and submit it.

Nice shot.
Very interesting focus with the path among the trees...my only suggestion is to crop out the building...it's a bit distracting.
Thanks for posting.

I too like the shot and the converging lines of the walk. I think maybe moving back or up as was said and centering the walk a little more making the walk the focus would have crated a whole different pic. Sending the eyes somewhere....I think the building is a bit distracting but i like the B&W and shadows created.
