iam by no means an expert, or for that matter an ameture.
for my eyes it seems to busy and seems to have a lot of distactons.
my eyes can seem to settle on a point.

I think it's beautiful! I love pictures like this. Makes me want to have a picnic and try to get a closeup of that little bird there

I have to agree with your friend.. I see the potential in the picture, it is a beautiful landscape, but it seems like too much is going on, and also, the color seems a bit dark to me

I like the picture but agree that it is a little too busy. I really like the three gulls that seem to be floating above the water. Perhaps cropping it to contain just the upper right quadrant would help to draw your attention to these birds and it would remove all the dark land that is at the bottom of the picture.

I hope you don't mind that I played around with your picture to try to develop a different point of interest.

I totally see what you did! Good work! I really like my original picture, but now by comparison I know I like the cropped one even better!

Busy, yes, lots of detail as well. drt205's crop looks good. Also 1/3 of left in portrait orientation would get sunlit boulders, wave action and hillside w/sky. Even center 1/3, portrait, with seagull included. A wealth of options.

If you added a canvas texture, the colors are nearly rich enough to pass as oils.
