Default Anatomy of a Hibiscus

Anatomy of a Hibiscus

I've never tried using my macro lens before so feel free to give pointers.

Nice shot of the stamen. I would have put more of the blossom into the frame still focusing on the stamen. Looks good to me though.

i like the shot but cant help thinking the oof leaf in the background is a bit of a distraction. maybe more of the petal will improve it too? what do you think?

Nicely focused. I agree the petal in the background going through the middle of the stamen is distracting. I do like it being out of focus though.

I see two ways of fixing it: either rotating up so more of the petal is in the background or down so less (even none) of it is visible. In either case though I'd also try to find a dark or contrasting solid background (e.g. piece of colored paper) to hide the existing distance background.

Nice fix. Definitely better without the leaf.

Afox,

After so many of these, it's starting to seem like plant porn . . . not that there's anything wrong with that. You could get yet another impressive landscape from lower right 2/3 of this shot, so stamen is diagonal and fills more of the frame.
