Default Pier Lights At Night

I took this shot awhile back before I started shooting in RAW, but I still managed to create a decent looking HDR Image from one JPEG. I then put a Black & White gradient map over it. The processing created a lot of noise, but I think I actually like the effect.

Let me know what you think.

andypyle,

Even without seeing the original, I'll bet I'd prefer it. A number of features seem disturbed by processing. But it's a guess. Is the original still whole?

You mean without noise? It was taken at night with an ISO of 400, so once I made an HDR of it, it came out extremely grainy.

andypyle,

As it came from camera, without processing. I'm always curious about the basic foundation of images.

andypyle,

Modesty prevents me from shouting -I knew it!- but something about overall look said there was a great shot in there somewhere behind the fix. While appreciating the work in the grainy one, the original is your winner (after minor straightening and cropping). The seabirds in lower right are an important part of look. Are they added in fix?

Yeah, they didn't come out nearly as well in the original shot though because it was so dark. I can try to get the original shot with the birds in it and post it. Thank you for the crit.
