Wow, you got really close to those penguins. I like the first one the best, even though I never realized just how gross a penguin's mouth looks
. I think the first one has good composition and a good angle, and it's very sharp. I'm not as fond of the second one because it looks like the focus is a bit soft, and of course, the horizon. The third one, again, good composition, and I love the little baby penguins (at least I think that's what they are). But it just doesn't stand out in the same way that first one does to me. You're lucky to have such interesting subjects in your area

purplepixie,
As before, your experience, most important. If you had used film here, I would wonder if the roll was out-of-date, or had been left in a hot car for some time; they have an unsaturated quality. Fixable, I believe, and the only overall glitch beyond that horizon issue. Three just brings me the sound of "Happy Feet" music (if you haven't seen trailers for the movie, that's not gonna make sense). Best penquin shot I've seen tonight!

Tx for the input everyone
JiminyC, I had very bright light on some of these - always find that tricky, may be time to buy that Polarising filter. (I have seen the Happy Feet trailer )

Hi mikem
Cape Town is well-known for our penguin populations, mostly Jackass Penguins as far as I know. These were taken at Boulders Beach (a protected penguin sanctuary) and Seaforth Beach.
