Default Morning Silhoutte

I woke up one morning to find this strange dog on the roof of my garage - she proceeded to wag her tail and get very excited when she saw me, but couldn't immediately find her way down.

Interesting sillouette, but I think you need a much faster shutter speed, for one thing.

purplepixie,

Like an "Outer Limits" episode (SciFi, USA). Speed was your motivation - grab-n-shoot? Is this taken with the Fuji?

HI JiminyC
Had to be quick - I had about a minute to grab my camera, wake up and shoot - didn't even open the sliding door. I rather like to scifi blurry effect, but wanted to see what you guys think.

purplepixie,

The more I see, the less rigidly I consider the merits of any photo. Here a choice was made between getting an event recorded, or missing it. That it is dark and blurry has to be ignored. Kept as a group, you have a story, and part of it is the wake-grab camera-snap picture. You have mostly sharp, well-lit photos to show, so these will be a fun departure. Your audience will realize you're not perfect, and you can relax a little.

JiminyC, I like the way to think. To me it's always a toss-up between technical ability and artistic interpretation. Sometimes I think maybe it's enough to know that you can handle the technical stuff and explore a bit :-)

I drew as a child, and praise was given for even the crudest of sketches. At 40, I took 2 years of Art Institute, Houston, Visual Communication Course where praise was hard to squeeze from instructors. Here, you can get both. To a beginner, almost anything is great; professionals see some fault in every shot. So explore and have fun learning.

At the end of some long discussion long ago, the question came down to "What is Success?" The best answer that could not be disputed was "Doing what makes you happy." Every argument for wealth, power, influence fell away when being unhappy was added. So your 'visitor' is fun, and a success!
