This was the day my son was born. It is the best pisture I've taken so far IMO, but I know it could be better. I made it BW in Photoshop6.

Thank you. I think I understand what you are trying to say. I agree "different" may be more appropiate as it likely would not get any better for me than it already is. I am interested in your ideas, if you don't mind sharing.

I think the b&w was a nice choice. Sometimes a newborn's skin can look a little blotchy. I don't know your post processing skills, but you could deepen some of the areas for more b&w contrast. Taking a more extreme closeup of the baby and mother's faces can also give you a nice composition. It will eliminate any distractions, such as a printed blanket and zero in on the subject: the love and exhaustion of a birth completed.
Yes, you can improve it technically, but this is a precious image and I don't think you can improve it in its emotional value to you and your family. Congratulations! |

I like your choice of Black and White for the photo. It gives the picture an almost 'dreamy' feeling. I wonder how it would look if the edges were blurred and the facial features being kept in focus?

I like it, I love the intimate feel that it has. This photo has a lot of emotions in it, both from the baby and mother. The baby must feel so safe and warm, and the mother must feel so happy and also protective.
Great shot. I definitely prefer this in black and white rather than color!! |

Paemt,
Thank you for the opportunity to try different ways of presenting your excellent photo. I had no idea it would turn out to be one of those rarities which maintains its richness even when reduced to the fundamental outline. Each of these is based on 8x10 format, each one will fit into an oval mat, and I enjoyed every minute of the discovery. Hope they still hold the charm of the original. ![]() Larger on Flickr
