Default Light Within US

Hey all
Last sunday i hav done some experiment with candles, did some candle lit potraits n some abstracts. im posting the pics which i loved the most in the shots v did yday.

C&C Invited.

Title: Light Within US

EXIF Data:
Canon 400D + Canon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 lens
ISO 400 f/4.5 @ 1/80
Flickr Link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chakoo/433445022/

The message i wanted to potray is, "We see and face several problems, tensions and stresses in our daily lives, we tend to spend lot of time worrying about the problem itself rather finding a solution. The solution(light) lies within us, it needs an intro spection and understanding of the basis of the problem to arrive at a solution. So spend some time to think what we are , what we wanted to do and what we are doing."

cheers
Chakoo

chakoo,

Even without the written message, the photo has a tenseness about it. Testing, painful choices, foolish acts: hard to pin it down. Purifying, sterilizing, fire as universal element of change for good or bad.

That hand is like a creature by itself. Good choice of composition, could have a touch more saturation of colors.

I like the message you are trying to get across, but my first thought was "Ouch!" Looking at the image longer, I might try to discern the artist's reasoning behind it, but I'm not sure I would come up with the same message.
As for the shot, I like the lighting.

I'm not sure I'm convinced by the rotation - not having the candle flame flickering upwards looks unnatural. For that reason, I prefer the Spread the Light shot (from the same session?).

Had the candle been at an angle but the flame still burning vertically, then I think I would find the shot above stronger.

Hi jiminyClickit
thnx ... im glad u liked the idea behind the pic. i purposely made it low saturated. i wanted to remove the red hue.

Hi Saralonde
thnx a lot for ur comments

wulf
thnx .... u r right abt the angle of shot as the flame on the candle looks unnatural. i just wanted to try different compo. vl keep it in my mind, to avoid such thngs.
