Default Bird on a Fence

The Bird

My main question is about the horizon. Should it be straightened? Any other comments are welcomed.

The top of the fence keeps the picture in square but the bird and the sun both compete as a focal point

lazyrust, Welcome

Sometimes a horizon can add to the perspective quality, as here with the fence heading to infinity. But you also have 3 strong verticals in the fence and tower on right. So if those bother you, try it both ways, use the one you believe is less distracting.

As hoges says, the subjects compete. But without both, it isn't at all dynamic. Taking the bird in front of the sun would have distorted it, and moving to the side to keep sun out of frame would leave you with a bird on a fence. Ho Hum.

Experiment. I'd be OK with the original because of the barbed wire. Any other time, straight horizons are better.
