Overexposed. You need to adjust with either contrast curves or levels to start. Try to bring out all the beauty there

Thank you for the advice. This is my first post and just learning how to upload. I wanted to say that it was unedited so any advice or editing anyone wants to do would be a great help! I just loved this shot!

kelly,

This would be one of those multi-shot events where I'd take a dozen different variations to get something like it. Screen, dirty window and all, just a wonderful shot of Horigans and occupant.

kelly,

If you edit your photo, it doesn't have to take away from the charm.

Jiminy I love what you did!! can you tell me what you did? I have microsoft digital image pro. The hard part for me is finding the time to "mess" with my photos, with four kids and a hubby thats out of town a lot leaves no time! so any advice is appreciated! Thanks so much! If it matters, my hubby bought me the rebel xti for my next ten holidays! hehehehe but finding the time to learn it is tough. I bought a book though. wish me luck!

kelly,

This was already a gem; I just polished it a bit. To make sure it remains close to your original, each step is minor. It's closer to level (horizontally and vertically), but not exact. The moire effect of the screen is lessened. Overall intensity of lights/darks are increased a little (as if the screen was brushed and the window was dusted). A little something on the screen in lower left, and in front of subject's lip and neck are lessened or removed with cloning. Last step is a little sharpening, paying attention to the eyes.

Since MDI Pro is unknown to me, I hope the generic description will lead you to your program's functions. Just a little of each change will be the key. This took maybe 20 minutes.

Photographer and camera did well. If this is one of your four, you may have to outdue yourself to have portraits as charming for siblings. Maybe one for each holiday?

If questions come up about changes, reply here and I'll try to help. With the book and DPS, you and the Rebel can fill an album with these. I will wish you luck, too; sometimes that's the last secret to a magic photo. Enjoy!
