Default Long Putt

Long Putt

I got my first camera (a p&S) for taking pics of the golf tournaments I go to...but after enjoying my time with it I moved up and started experimenting with other types of shots. I now have my canon rebel xt and enjoying every minute of it... this is one of my golf shots that I took before my rebel (i hav'nt really had a chance to take that many since buying it). I think it is a good shot but not great, and since the weather is starting to get nice I'm hoping I can practice a bit with my golf shots before the actual tournament season starts. Any ideas would be great, I did some post production by cloning out some construction material in the back of the field.

this was with my Canon SD 500 camera
settings: Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500) Aperture: f/3.5

In hindsight put the camera on the ground facing his direction with the ball coming at you. Try to get the ball in focus and him out of focus. I think that would make for a great shot.

You could also slow the shutter speed down to get the sense of motion going.

Thanks for the advice... I like the idea for the shot but I'm trying to also save the memories and people so I don't really want to blur out the person... I guess I could go oppiste and make the ball blurred

Nieton21,

For a golf shot to show the putt distance, this is what it takes. If it were my shot, I would have wanted to leave a more comfortable (very subjective) margin on left and right. It's already a panoramic, a little 'breathing room' would add balance overall. A little motion (as sagelike31 said) would add a quality, too.
