Default Water Droplets in Flowers

Hi all!
This is a fairly cropped down version of a photo i took of a tree out the back of my place just after some rain (a rare (and sadly exciting) event over here).

I couldn't quite work out how to crop the image so that the water droplet was framed correctly by the other leaves and twigs. I've included the original HERE.

so that you can either recrop youself or give more informed advice

Thanks in advance!

stevesutt89,

Questions first: if it were cropped "correctly," how would it be different?
What about it bothers you, if anything? Is the droplet in the blossom the center of interest you most want featured?

Aha! you've got me!
"Correctly" was a a bad term to use.
What i meant was when i look at this image all i see is wasted potential. The droplet in the flower, while still the centre of interest, doesn't really hit you in the eye. Perhaps if the right hand side of the image was a litle less busy, and the droplet more centred it may look a little beter.

Hmm, i think i might try that now.

stevesutt89,

Hope you found one you like. This is the first one that looked OK to me; imagine it lighter, same crop.

I rather like the second one, only it seems to lack the detail of the original.

in this one i (rather crudely) tried to remove some of the twigs, to give the image a more even weighted appearance.

stevesutt89,

It was the diagonal of the first one I thought added interest and directed me back to drop. Sort of miss that in above. Fun puzzle, fine photo; thanks for invitation. I think one more tomorrow. It's 4:30 AM here. I'm off . . .

Apologies, jiminyClickit.
I forgot you only had a 0.8 MP version of the original.
This would account for the apparent lack of resolution of your edits.

As an aside: Is it possible to post images larger than 1024x768 on flickr?
This image was 2MP when I uploaded it, but the largest size i can seem to be able to get off the site is 1024x768

stevesutt89,

Most I know is about the free Flickr, where 5 MP is limit for each photo. The Pro account allows more, and I believe unlimited storage. Worth investigating, I think $30 a year for lots of goodies.

Samples are all about composition on this one, no question you can get a great detailed result. Have one more to post later today.

Well, here it is. My final edit of this picture.
Alright, Alright, "Final" was a big word to use. What i mean is that i'm happy with this edit, and i shouldn't change it much from here....That is, unless it just me who thinks this is good, and others have helpful hints on how to imporove it further.
