This is the original image that I went crazy on under the thread "Aflac" for those of you who haven't seen it. IT IS TERRIBLE. Anyway I am curious to see what others have in mind for this image so edit away! By the way I'd like to thank all of you for your advice. This is Fun!

Miche',

Only you know for sure: eye color, too dark? Skin tone? Etc.

Default here's my try

new

Here is what I did...
 • Tinted photo on fine with yellow, then red to warm it and remove the blue tones in his skin.
 • Copied pupil from right eye and pasted to left. Adjusted the catch light slightly and used eraser (8% opacity) over pupil to get a more natural look - it was a tad too black.
 • Dodge whites of eyes on shadows & midtones to get a whiter white. Dodged inner iris, burned outer edge of iris. I like using this technique since it usually helps the eyes pop a little.
 • Cloned out boogers and blotch at edge of mouth.
 • Darkened out the background to reduce the appearance of shadows created by flash.
 • Unsharp mask on eyes & lips
 • Very slight Diffuse glow (using picker to select an almost white pink from skin)

Do you like?

rachel_r,

Until Miche' gets back, I have to know: do you have a booger tool?

But seriouser, you may be a natural . You went about 5 steps beyond where I stopped and it was a good 5 steps.

Was it strange the location of catchlight from the flash did not work with the new eye?

If you are talking about the eyes, maybe a little(ok, majoraly) overdone. I just can't help myself in shots like these.

Do you guys think this shot needs some space added to the left?

Ok you got me - I will reveal my secret "Booger Removal Tool"

booger

Yes it was a bit strange, and I was not certain on where to put the catch light. I still think mine is a little off.

omega,

No, that was a response to rachel_r about the repaired eye catchlight. But now that you mention it, wow. How many of the "Omen" or "Children of the Corn" movies have you seen? Is it really something uncontrollable? They don't go with the color of his shirt. Or with humans in general.

I actually did try adding some space on the left but then after I did it I decided I didn't like it too much. To me he ended up looking like he was just floating in darkness. Maybe someone else has a better way to do that type of addition.
