Default overdone

it looks like everything was overdone here. too much PS - it really make the child look terrible. back off a bit and be softer it is just too stark. perhaps you were going for this look - if you were it was successful.

Default What is PS?

Your right. The short time I have been in here I have learned alot so far. It has taught me to take a step back and to look at my images a bit differently. I tend to like saturated color,but in this case I do not think it does any justice to the photo at all. It lacks control for sure. Still, I do not know what you meant when you said "PS". Would you explain please. Now it will be really back to the drawing board. You should see what I've done to some of my other images(ha). At home, I enjoy abstract painting so I thought I was trying to experiment in that direction. Oh well! - Miche'

Miche',

First thought was "Wonder if original could be saved?" The expression and pose are why kids are great subjects. It would be difficult for me to "extreme-edit" a photo like this, but I think the experiment was not a loss, if you stepped back. It takes a while to get a really good photo more often than a delete-worthy one. I believe the painting is important to continue, and the photography certainly can take you into areas very different from brushes and pigments. Mixing the two is risky. Bravo for experimenting.

Default Good Advice...

Dear Jiminy;

Well,good advice as usual. I know I can get nutso when I edit so I try not to delete the original image. So I decided to post the original ..red-eye and all, untouched. See what you think. It certainly can't be any worse than what I did to the poor child in the first place. (haha) Thanks again!

Miche',

Always a pleasant surprise to find a little Renoir under the painting of the Sad Clown. The original with the red eye explains the oddness in your "painterly" version, as if you had added the eye by hand. Besides the eye, what do you think would make your original great on its own (as a photograph)? I can fix the red/flashed area; you can too. What else? In first version, I thought maybe he had just finished cake with icing, but the highlight can be reduced. Color, sepia, B/W any one will look good with a couple of "fixes." Feel better?
