I thought NYC had more people on the sidewalk? I am not from NYC (only seen it on the news).
Maybe you could have come down flatter on the subject instead of getting buildings concentarte more on the lights which I think is what the photo is more about. Besides that love the light effects. |

A 30 second exposure wouldn't have been able to capture any humans unless they were either standing still for a long time or emitting a tremendous amount of light (much like the headlights in the picture).

kro77, this would be perfect composition for different part of the day, maybe at night while the sky is still blue (dark blue) and lights are on. The buildings on the right would be more visible providing the balance to the striking electric river down on the street. I realy like your perspective and framing, and the way all diagonal lines in the picture converge at the end of the street - it's such a pitty they are not all nicely visible.
Now, maybe you can crop the street only, it has interesting rows of cars on the sides, and see how it looks. I think I would also change the white balance, the light is a little too brownish. Try tungsteen or similar to add more blue/green tones, it should change the atmosphere. |

Thanks for the suggestion, I know the WB is off and I will work on correcting that. I guess the thing that kind of irks me about the photo is the building on the left seems distracting to me. I will modify the WB and repost. Thanks for the suggestions folks. Always better to work in a collaborative enviorment.

First of all, good shot...
I'd actually crop the building on the right and keep mostly the street. Maybe turning thins into a vertical shot, with the street and the building in the background would add more impact and help put forward the dynamism in this shot.
