Default B&W

I've spent two weeks with my new camera trying to figure out how to adjust the setting so I can get portraits of my children with the background blurred. I finally got it (yeah!) and I got some great candid shots. However, the only photo editing software I have right now is Google's Picasa - I will be buying Photoshop Elements later this month when I get my birthday money. Anyway, I am sure that once I develop and eye for how B&W shots should be adjusted, I'll see all sorts of things I should adjust on these. In the mean time, I would love to hear other's opinions on whether they're okay as is or what editing I might do to make them better. Here is a mosaic I made using flicker's toys that shows my favorites from that shoot:

Ben...Unplugged

Thanks!

Very nice, sharply focused and nicely composed. If I were to nitpick, I'd say my least favorite is the bottom right. It bothers me slightly that his chin is cut off. That could be a highly subjective opinion though, so see what others say . He's a cutie! Lucky you to have such a sweet model .

This is a nice set of photo's. Very good b/w. The chin doesn't bother me, you are very consequent in cutting of body parts (that sounds horrible lol) so it can be considered to be your style.

To be a nitpicker also, in the same picture I think his face is a little too dark due to the cap.

but really a nice series!!

I have a comment and that is well when you are photographing head shot's it's a good idea to capture the whole head. Apart from that great slection and the man will certainly be a thinker

Oh also very nice blur effect on the background!
