Fuji FinePix S3100 1/140 sec. f/8 6mm ISO 64 Noon

Last Spring, one of many quick shots taken to record an area about to be destroyed for new construction. Bright sun, handheld, auto-everything. About 50% crop, 5% contrast boost.

I might play with it to try to eliminate some of the graininess, but as far as the shot itself, I love it! the perspective & framing work really well, and the contrast is spot-on.

I'd play with it in Photoshop, but I do that with everything. =)

googlit,

That's as sharp as little Fuji gets. Lens elements start at size of quarter and get smaller, so what can I hope for? Hardest part was getting Ant to sign release.

Thumbs up

I agree with googlit, perspective and framing are perfect; and these plain little dandelions look just gorgeous!

I've noticed that you tend to focus on a fragments rather than on the whole picture in your shots, and sometimes I miss some space in them, or distance. This time you got it just right! Perfect example of using "surrounding space" - your photo is not limited with the framing; it bursts out to the imaginary space around it. Great composition!

googlit,

Maybe, maybe some of the graininess is the bit of Unsharp mask. I looked at original closer: not so bad. The mask is slippery, subtle.

Saralonde,

You get me. Is that a cliche? Doesn't matter, it's always good to find a sense of humor amongst Technorazzi.

sana,

Thinking about portraits while doing this; it was like framing an ordinary face in such a way that the best features become special. You have the gift of seeing so much more than image, going backwards through the lens and the eye of the photographer, into the choices that got that image to look that way. Sometimes I just do what seems right, hesitating to ask "why." Thanks for encouragement, everyone.

I like it ....a lot. The background reminds me of brushstrokes, now you know I am going to like that. But that is just me.
