Default Capture of innocence

I liked the effects that holding my finger over the flash light made but is it too exposed?

It's an interesting shot and angle and the eye on the left stands out very nicely but I don't think the streaks of light really helped, especially with the 'moustache' the one seems to bring, seems a bit of a distraction, though could be edited out pretty easy with work on the clone tool.

I agree with seltzer.. when i look at the picture, the lines are hard to identify and act as a distraction.

Only after reading that the baby is holding a flashlight does the photo become much more interesting and the lines understood.

I think if the flashlight was in the frame, the lines would be nice, but with this cropping, i don't think it adds to the photo..

I'll disagree and say that I quite like the lines of light. They remind me of the marvellous patterns you get reflected from moving water on a sunny day and, in this picture, give the impression that the child is staring at something mysterious and wonderful.

I think it would be interesting to see some other patterns. If this had been my shot, the main thing I would want to do is see if I could get the child's face a little sharper and perhaps with a warmer hue.

Interesting and intriguing concept.
I guess appreciation of the technique will be as varied as the light patterns you can create.

I love the closeup view you took and how you filled the frame with the baby's face. The first thing I noticed was that the eyes were not in focus. The lines don't bother me as much as that.

I never thought that the lines produced a mustache but of course now I see it. Nathan wasn't holding onto anything just completely captivated by the camera. I must have taken 20 or so shots trying to get a close up/macro.

The flash regardless of brightness made him look washed out and no flash looked awful. The lines are from my fingers deflecting over the flash. P/C cameras can be very frustrating at times

Christa,

People laugh when they see tissue stuck to my flash, but once you've tried it, it makes sense. Diffuses well, adjustable to an infinite degree, available everywhere, and is biodegradable. Just don't cover your camera's sensor if you try it. Keep tape to one side, it can create uneven light.
