Default Concert Shot

Hey guys!

I took this at a local open mic nite at my college and I was wondering what you guys think! What other tips do you have for concert photography?

I think this is really well done. I like the composition and sharpness of it. My only suggestion might be to see what you can do to get her face just a little bit lighter.

Nice and sharp. Good angle. But too dark, with deep dark shadow at the forehead and eye. Maybe lightened up a bit with lessening of shadows. I'm a real newbie so you can take this with a grain. Thanks for posting.

Awesome. I think there's an argument to be made about leaving it dark as is. The red under-lighting pulls the eye up into the shot. I also like the ambiguity of it that can only come without copious details on the face. I think it captures the setting and feel of the concert.

One good way to improve is to check out examples of good photos in the genre you are working in. That way you can get a better idea of what works and what doesn't, and in which situations (and types of bands) different styles of image work well.

Daniel Boud is one example of a photographer who takes very nice concert photos: http://boudist.com/
