Default Rugby Practice

I've only recently started shooting indoor and outdoor sports. This is also my first post to DPS. Previously, I've concentrated on motorsports. Here's my most recent attempt.

kptyson,

Tells the story, some acceptable motion blur, composed well. Looks like you enjoy it; well-shot.

I love the expressions on their faces, the mud and the feeling of motion. You seem to have caught their emotion.

Default Thank you both

Thank you both.
I had the following concerns with this image.
I wanted to keep the face of the player carrying the ball near one of the 'Rule of Thirds' locations. This helps draw the eye to the upper right hand corner. This left part of the fence and the water fountain visible on the left. I could crop this out but then it would diverge from the 3:2 ratio, close to the golden mean.
The other issue is the orange cone. I guess some judicious photoshop editting could remove it but, frankly, that's beyond my current Photoshop skills.
Thanks again for your comments.

kptyson,

Save the cone, please. It lifts the moment out of the mud with its shock of fluorescence. You could select (lasso) it and unsaturate it a bit, if it bothers you. It gives a bit of personality to grungey.

Focus, clarity, composition are all great but the problem I have is that the other players are barely moving. The one guy in the back with the white shirt has his hands on his hips.

The main subject is perfect, however.
