Default Young Entrepreneur

Being a entrepreneur can be pretty stressful business. Who ever tried running their own business will know this. Even more, when your young and it's your first time.

I took this of my buddy with out him knowing. He's the owner of a skateboard/snowboard shop in my city.

I like the result I got but, am looking for some ideas and thoughts on how I could make it better or different things I could try.

Thanks for looking!

Boy, I don't know! I think it's damn near perfect! If I'm not mistaken, you were going for the intensity of the moment. There really was no need for the first line in your thread,

because, the shot speaks for itself & your shot was so right on target. That is what makes a good Photo! I'm not a big fan of B&W, but this is the perfect place for it. Very nicely done! You should be proud!!

Great shot...very moving.
Is this the type of photography that you prefer?...people shots?...black and white? You seem to have a real feel for it.
Thanks for sharing.

It IS a nice shot...

but what did you really intend to tell your audience? the shot itself as a portrait is great. yes, it could express stress, being deep in thought, pondering a problem...

maybe a shot showing what he is looking at, some items in the background to suggest something (shallow DOF)...again it really depends on what you wanted to project...

and again as it is, a lot is expressed already...!

I hear what your saying, but to much info on a shot like this would ruin it, I believe. In my first post I said that the first line wasn't needed. Reason being, is to leave it up to the imagination of the person looking at the photo. When you post a photo such as this one & people start asking questions about it such as, "What was he thinking at the time" or "What was his mood at the time", THAT is when you know you've nailed it! Just my opinion.

I agree that an open-ended photo makes for great discussion, but why not answer the questions? I hate movies that don't wrap up the ending.

Trelaflip:
I like the framing, the choice of monochrome, the lighting, the shot angle. The image is evocative.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Much appreciated.

rpaladino: I have not yet figured out a type of photography that I prefer yet. With me being new to photography, I'm still trying to figure that out. Candid portraits are definitely my favorite at the time being.

I agree with Digidave but then, I also agree with Amigone201. I can't make up my mind. I guess it really depends on the type of photo.
