Default Gates of Heaven

Okay, here's an interesting one; I deliberately overexposed part of the clouds. I had my Canon with me at lunch with a polarizing filter on it, and when I saw the sun go behind some clouds I took the chance and took a few shots.

I /wanted/ the overexposure, that brilliant glow the sun creates when it's behind a cloud. Technically it's 'wrong' to overexpose, but in this case... did it work? I think it's one of those times it was good to 'break the rules,' but I'm curious what others thing.

RainPacket,

After spending a few weeks trying to have this not happen, it's tough to say. The blown area wouldn't have all that much information anyway, so the loss isn't great.

Perhaps, like heaven, you see what you hope is there. Can you see it as if someone else had posted it?

It is okay but doesn't grab me as much as some of your other work. For a shot like this, I think you need to clouds to be in just the right position to suggest other shapes and the ones here don't give me any particular impression.

I love the brightness of the clouds, but I wish the sky itself was more of a blue than a gray. I've seen clouds like that for real, and they're always set against a brilliant blue sky.
