Default The Bluest Eyes

Baby Blue Eyes

Looking Ahead

I took these my first go using the macro on my camera (clearly before I had thought to turn the date imprint off) but I love the reflection in his eyes.
Be gentle, I am a serious amatuer.

What gorgeous eyes! I am certainly not an expert so this is just my personal opinion - I love the sharp focus, especially on the eyelashes, and the nose on the second one, but I am detracted a bit by the skin tone which is a little blue. I wonder if the skin tone was less blue then the eyes would stand out even more? What a great subject to practice on though!

beautiful eyes

perhaps a little dark around the outer edges.. but then again maybe that helps the eyes stand out

as for the date if you use Photoshop or Jasc Paintshop you can clone out the Date imprint

well.. I must say i reeaaalllly love it.
I've never made any baby-pictures myself, but this stimulates me to do it!
i like the first one the best, tho only one eye is sharp. i think 2 sharp eyes would be better, but. i don't know what camera you have and what possibilities it has.
(me myself, am actually a camera-newbie)

one tip about the composition:
when photographing people, try to get a clear space at the spot their looking to.
in this case it should be left.. cuase it gives you some more depth, and you're wondering where the kid is looking towards.
you did that better in the second shot.

I read this here in the blog, although i cant find the article anymore...
maybe anybody else knows?

also, with a little color balance in photoshop you can make the skin less-blue to make the eyes stand out, but i dont know if you have the program.

nonetheless, as I said, I totally love the picture.
BTW: is it ok if i manipulate your photograph to show you what i mean?

Hey Floris,
I would love to see what you can do with it. I have photoshop but am yet to experiment with it. Look forward to seeing your results...

ok i made a File for you, I put both Pictures in it so you can compare the 2.

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/5876/exampledd2.jpg

Things I did:

Made some black space on the left, like I said.

Changed the color balance, the baby looks less blue and has a more natural skin color. also the blue eyes look blue-er (in fact they are a little bit brighter)
See how different the pictures are?

hope this helps you m8!

I still realy like the photograph btw!

I really like the changes - baby color is better and the eyes really pop.

I really love these pictures. I am always drawn to eyes...

Before reading all of your comments my only suggestion would have been to adjust the skin tone and the examples that Floris gave show the changes well.

Exceptional shots.

hello naomilee,
Im gonna comment on the first pic first, you should move the face more to the right to give more black background and give balance to the picture, that way you can also move the eye to the "third" of the composition.
As for the second pic, I love it, its balanced and the color of the blue is just nice, I like the effect of the reflection too.
Thats my opinion, keep shooting and have fun!
