Talking Pink clouds at dusk skyline shot.

Here's a shot I took not 2 hours ago, again from outside my bedroom window. The clouds have been brilliant all day but with no foreground i felt the shot would be dull.

When dusk hit, the sky lit up with colours and I managed to get a shot or two, The colours lasted not 5 minutes and could have been missed so easily. Here are the results, What do you think?

D80 1/400s f/4.0 ISO100 28mm

What can i do to change or improve the shot next time?

The rest of the shots from this 'shoot' are on my flickr site.

I think you did a lot of things right: dark forground, low horizon, beautiflly colored sky. How nice you were able to get this out of your bedroom window!

I wouldn't describe them as very pink - on my monitor, the predominant colours are orange and blue. They are very striking though.

One comment on the composition is that it almost looks like two images, divided roughly down the middle. I am not sure whether I like that or not but one possibility might have been to zoom in more (EXIF data says you were at 28mm), rotate the camera to portrait orientation, and take another picture of just the left hand side.

Actually, the best thing to do in a situation like this is to take lots of shots!

looks great, you could try cropping so as to bring the main light source up an little to the right, i know they say "fill the frame" but as a learner i have found that taking shots with the main highlight center allows you to crop and create that well composed photo . great way to learn and apply the so called rules of good photography.
