An interesting shot. Personally I find Ed's forehead a little washed out (too bright) and the lamp blocking the top of his head distracting, but at the same time I understand that you couldn't exactly move the lamp out of the way as it was illuminating his work area.

Except for the brightly lit forehead you might consider brightning the exposure a little... but I'm not sure, all depends on the look/mood you're going for. I do like the shot a lot, like I said the only distraction for me is the light on Ed's head - and his hand seems to be a part of her back (no shadow/line to distinguish the two).

Overall a nice shot though.

I think I would prefer to see either more or less of the person Ed is working on - either show her face, giving an impression of how she is responding to being his canvas, or cropping somewhere to the right of the ear, which would remove any hint of her personality but focus more on the artist.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I appreciate it. :]

This was actually shot on TMax 100 film, and printed by myself, so bringing out the detail in his hand/forehead would mean a lot of time in the darkroom and a lot of trial and error. (Lazy, I know ) I tried a couple different angles but it was kind of awkward in there, and I didn't really want to get in their way.

As for the 'pose', this was for a school assignment, theme 'Environmental Portrait', so it was really more about Ed (the tattoo artist) and what he was doing. My professor chose this shot to print out of the six or so that I took...

Anyways, thanks again for the comments as I take all praise and criticism as a way to better myself as a young and aspiring photographer! :]
